Perfect for luxurious artisan and/or finely crafted products. foil labels add integrity and value. But there are differences between the three processes of hot stamping, embossing, and cold foil.
Options for Printed Foil Labels
- Foil Stamping (Hot Stamping)
With hot stamping, labels give off a bright impression that comes out of using pressure, a die, and foil together. A metal stamp of the artwork is mounted onto a stamping machine. At high temperature, the foil is then transferred onto the paper. It is a high-impact, lustrous, visual type of label that stands out.
It is ideal for short runs, adding highlights to full-color digital images.
- Embossing
Embossing, on the other hand, does not use inks or foils. The process involves pressing an image into paper so the image is raised. Embossing is another name for raised printing, which is another type of high-impact image.
- Cold Foil Stamping
Cold foil stamping is a fast Flexographic process using plates, which is great for reproducing thin lines, even at 5 pt. size fonts. Whereas with foil stamping, a stamp must be created, with cold foil, only a plate needs to be created.
It involves several steps – the first being printed on paper in the desired shape, then metallic foil is pressed onto the paper, and finally exposed to UV light, followed by removing the foil wherever there is no adhesive.
Cold foil is best for larger runs, and ink and cold foil can be ordered as a combination.

25+ Years Experience In Printing Custom Gold Foil Stickers And More…
If there is a special occasion or premium packaging involved, then printing custom gold foil stickers or the silver foil option are both ideal. Our experience in the field covers over 25 years of hands-on experience. When it comes to reproducing very thin fine lines, we are able to do so using state-of-the-art machinery, and our assembly lines can handle millions of units daily.
Our attention to detail on custom foil stickers and labels is second to none. The process we go through for each order, whether for custom gold foil stickers or silver foil is the same, but we don’t treat each order the same, because we understand that each individual order and each individual client is unique. We do not try to steer our clients in a direction of one-size-fits-all all labels. We create unique labels that our clients can be proud of.
Our Simple Process From Order To Completion
We make it easy for our clients to place orders, and receive labels. In regards to the aforementioned process of placing an order, the following is included:
- Typesetting
- Digital Proofing
- Set-Up
- Plates
- Bleeds
Once a client agrees to go ahead and submit artwork, we begin by setting up the digital proofing process, where we send a proof by email to the client to check all details carefully. Once the client emails back their approval in writing, we proceed with printing the label, which can take anywhere from one day to several weeks depending on the client’s deadline and our workload. We do specialize in rush orders on foil label printing, so if a deadline is approaching, please let us know and we will be happy to do our best to make it happen.
Important note: When submitting artwork, please make sure artwork is at least 300 dpi with at least 1/8 of an inch bleed all around. This will ensure the best quality on custom foil stickers.

How fast do inks fade?
Our inks are high quality. Depending on the conditions, inks last about 3 to 6 months. We do offer special fade resistant inks or a sunscreen lamination available through our quoting process; please call for pricing or

A white backer is an imprint of white ink applied directly behind the artwork. This helps make the artwork look less transparent and preserves the color integrity on a clear label.
Will I receive more than (overrun) or less than (underrun) the quantity I order? Will I be charged for an overrun?
If ordering a certain quantity of labels, we will produce and ship that quantity. If there are extra labels shipped with an order, we will not charge for the overrun.
What if I need a less-than-minimum quantity?
It may be possible, but bear in mind that the higher the quantity that you order, the better the price per unit will be on foil label printing. this is why we have established minimums … for you to get the best pricing.
What is a bend & peel tab?
